Aber Students smash UK drinking record!
Aberystwyth, Wales - 30/11/01 -
Last night hoards of Aberystwyth students came together to smash the UK
tequila slammer record. 310 people took part in the simultaneous slam,
which took place in the Aberystwyth Student Union at 8.30pm, smashing the
existing record of 180.
The atmosphere was amazing as hundreds of willing participants slammed the
fiery tequila down their necks and then dived for the nearest glass of
water to cool off.
The event raised hundreds of pounds for the Life Guard, which will go
towards a thermal-imaging camera on Aberystwyth sea front. The sea has
claimed the life of several students in recent years and it is hoped that
the camera will help save lives in the future.
Big Dave!
Afro hair was back in fashion last night as the event included a Big Dave
(from Pot Noodle ads) look-a-like competition. The ladies held 'We love
Big Dave' banners while all the Big Dave's got down and strutted their
funky stuff.
Student Brand Manager, Laura Davies from 'The Get Real Marketing Company'
organised the competition which was won by the Lacrosse team. 'It was such
a laugh, I couldn't believe what some of the guys looked like' said Laura.
The winners went home with a whole pile of King Size Curry Pot Noodles and
vouchers for Boxercise lessons so they can stop their mates nicking the
Pot Noodles.
