Let's try to answer your question! As you know, the British in Florida website is the ultimate resource. At time of writing, the site gets at least 14,000 hits a week - that's a lot of exposure for your article!
Remember that your article will have your byline - details about your business, a link to your website and so on. That's great FREE advertising!

Who will read your article? The majority of our readers are, unsurprisingly, British people on Florida! However, we have a large number of American readers, most of which live in Florida and therefore may be interested in YOUR service or product. Many people in the UK, who are planning to visit or live in Florida regularly read this website too.
Why is an article better than other forms of advertising? Well, it's FREE for one thing! But the advantages are greater than that. A website is communication. When someone is reading what you have written they are almost engaging in a dialogue with you. They almost feel as if they know you. If you have links to your website on other sites, that's great, but why should anyone click on it? But if they've just enjoyed your article, they are much more likely to do so.
Does it really work? Read this comment by Robert Sullivan* "Some time ago I placed an advertisement in a periodical with national circulation. It cost a few hundred dollars for a 1-column inch display. I'm sure you have seen these type of advertisements many times. We sent our artwork, paid the bill, and got ready to fill the hundreds of orders we expected. We were advertising a business book. We received three orders!! A few months later I had an article published in the same periodical which resulted in hundreds of sales." Try it and see!
An article about what? Anything! You don't have to be an expert writer by any means. You could write about your business speciality, tell us about your experiences, your memories, your travels, your favourite sport or your pet, even tell us a funny story or send your favourite recipe.
