I am an electrician who is looking to immigrate to America I have been advised that trying to receive a work based sponsor would be the best way of doing this. So I am trying to find work in the Florida area I would obviously be providing my own fares and accommodation so it is employment only that I am looking for. Good Morning and happy thanksgiving to all Brits in Florida,
I wonder if anyone can help a fellow compatriot in his hour of need? My fiancé and I decided a few months ago to sample another part of the world before we settle down and raise a family...She has been offered and has accepted a senior operations role with her company (daily mail group,
world media) organizing fine arts exhibitions and her office is based in West Palm Beach. Therefore, my questions to anyone who can help are:
1. Would anybody know of any route which I can take to secure a working visa without being sponsored before I arrive in the U.S. (long shot I know!)
2. Would anybody be aware of any companies/organizations that would be interested in employing a successful, 29 yr old, salesman and project manager? (presently fully employed in the U.K. by caterpillar) If so I can send my C.V.
at a moments notice. Please note I am a very flexible( I have had various roles in my working life from building-site laborer to barman to Sales Manager in charge of caterpillar's U.K. sales in the hospitality market) and would happily consider any type of work.
3. We were informed by the American Embassy that if we ran off to Gretna Green that there would be no problem with me applying for a visa as my fiancé's spouse and therefore being able to legally apply for work. We were subsequently told by a friend who is an immigration lawyer that this could obviously be viewed by the American authorities as a rather suspect act so close to coming out to the U.S.
Is there any merit in even pursuing this route?...Does anybody have any experience of this? Obviously this would be our last resort, if indeed we even consider this route as we would ideally like to get married in a manner befitting my
fiancé's wishes with all of our family and friends around us, rather than some hasty union for the sake of a visa.
4. does anybody have any information on how long I can stay on a holiday visa if my fiancé's earnings and my savings are enough to support us in the short term?...some sources state ninety days and others state six months before having to return to the U.K. to re-apply
And finally for anybody who hasn't yet fallen asleep trawling through these desperate witterings...
5. assuming that we will have to initially arrive without my not attaining a job (because we are due to travel in January!)... can anyone suggest the best area for us to look for a two bedroom apartment/house if the only controlling factor is my fiancé's daily journey into work in West Palm
Beach, whilst I remain at home with an apron and the marigold's on?
